NEW, DRY CORE-DRILLING
Rothenberger has launched the Rodiadrill-1800 Dry, a hand-operated, wet core drilling machine designed for applications in building, heating, plumbing and electrical installation.
The new tool extends the line of diamond core-drilling systems already available from this German pipe-tools company, and meets the need for plumbers and other pipe professionals to be able to drill dimensionally accurate holes into walls and floors of any type.
The 1800-Dry also brings the South African market fully up to date with the latest developments in European and American markets.
Main feature of the new drill is its ability to produce large diameter holes without needing a water collection ring and water suction unit, hence the “dry” description within the product nomenclature.
Dry-drilling takes less time to set up, does not require a water supply, and is more convenient and simpler than wet drilling.
The new Rodiadrill utilises patented ‘Power-Puls’ technology to deliver
23 000 soft blows per minute for efficient drilling in hard materials, and produces holes of up to 162mm in walls of concrete, reinforced concrete and stone.
Dimensions are small and compact, despite housing an 1800-watt motor to provide optimal dry-drilling power.
The result is an improved working position directly against the wall, and an easily manageable tool weight of just 5,8kg.
Advanced operator safety features of the new drill include electronic softstart with overload indicator, and an electronic friction clutch with automatic switch-off.
Dust extraction is integral to the operation of the tool.
To coincide with the main launch of the Rodiadrill, Rothenberger has also introduced a range of diamond-segmented core drill bits designed specifically for dry-drilling.
These incorporate special segments to maximise the accuracy and precision of free-hand drilling.
Twenty-three bits and an extension rod provide for a comprehensive spectrum of holes from 32 mm to 162mm.
